Simairport standby gates11/26/2022 ![]() You can create a single or multiple periods of standby operation. A white block will be added to the gate's schedule When you release the mouse button it will be titled 'Standby'. Then drag either right or left to extend the period. Left-click within the gate row at the time you want to start (or end) the period of standby operation. Typically you will use a gate with no scheduled flights but that is not actually necessary. Select ' Standby Gates' to schedule the standby period(s). On the right-hand side in the middle of the dialog box the "Schedule Edit Mode" will now allow you to choose between 'Flights' and 'Standby'. In summary, proper scheduling will prevent the need for a Standby gate, until and unless the Devs institute mechanical failures on the aircraft which would result in a delayed push-off.When you have complete the 'Standby Gates' research a new option will be available on the Flight Management screen which allows you to add and remove standby operation on any gate. So make sure the Standby gate is not too far off. This results in the pax having to transit to that gate, and can be an issue. If you have a Standby gate, and an aircraft on approach pings its' gate and that gate is still occupied, then the inbound will change to the Standby gate. If not, you have an issue somewhere with your pax throughput or need to schedule additional time on the gate for the aircraft to load. as long as your scheduling allows 30 minutes between flights on the gate, and the aircraft push off the gate on time or less than 10 minutes late, you'll be ok. If you've noticed, flights land earlier than their scheduled arrival time, and that is more indicative of an on-gate arrival time (unless they have to taxi a LONG way.). then they will check again a few minutes later. If so, they land and proceed to the gate. Inbound flights check to see if their gate is free 20 minutes prior to scheduled arrival. The key is to understand the game mechanic and why they can be needed. ![]()
